The Fort Frances Lakers find themselves in a best-of-three affair with the Dryden Ice Dogs, after the Ice Dogs evened up their SIJHL semi-final series at two games apiece following a 7-4 win in Dryden last night.
As was the case on Monday evening, the Ice Dogs jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first period and would find the back of the net again early in the second frame, which led to Lakers starting netminder Talor Joseph being pulled from the game in favour of Tanner Hamilton.
The Lakers were able to pull within two goals on two separate occasions, but that would be as close as the visitors would get as the Ice Dogs were able to withstand the comeback bids.
Jon Carlson led the way for the Lakers with two goals and an assist, while Tyler Brodersen and Jordan Christianson both had a goal and two assists each in losing efforts.
Tyson Holder was the pacesetter for the Ice Dogs as he found the back of the net twice and assisted on three other goals.
Both teams will be back in action here tomorrow night at the Ice for Kids Arena at 7:30 p.m. for Game 5 of the series.
A sixth game will be held in Dryden on Monday night, while a seventh and deciding game, if necessary, will take place in Fort Frances next Tuesday.
Elsewhere, the Minnesota Wilderness are one win away from heading back to the SIJHL finals as they defeated the Minnesota Iron Rangers 4-1 last night in Hoyt Lakers.
The Wilderness, who have won the last two Bill Salonen Cups, can sweep aside the Iron Rangers tomorrow evening.
