The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce has four new directors following its recent election.
Marie Allan (BDO & Company LLP), Steve MacNeil (Rainy Lake Tribal Contracting), Paul Noonan (La Place Rendez-Vous), and Rick Smith (Canadian Tire) were elected by the Chamber membership, who submitted ballots by the Dec. 7 deadline.
Seven candidates ran for the four seats, with voter participation for this election being very good, the Chamber noted in a press release issued yesterday afternoon.
The four elected will join current directors Chris Benz (TD Canada Trust), Lisa Plourde (RBC), Steve Gushulak (Fort Frances General Supply), Jennifer Horton (The UPS Store), and Travis Glowasky (Studio Gibbous).
Board members will start work in their new roles effective Jan. 1.
The 2013 executive, meanwhile, consists of president Mark Caron (M.L. Caron Electric), first vice-president Leo Melanson (93.1 The Border), second vice-president Robin Payeur (Causeway General Insurance), treasurer Myles Kuharski (Gillons’ Insurance Brokers Ltd.), past-president Cathy Emes (NCDS), and second past-president Christine Denby (Gillons’ Insurance Brokers Ltd.)
Appointed members include Coun. John Albanese (Town of Fort Frances), Angela Halvorsen (RRFDC), BIA rep Mike Tullio (Nirvana), and Gord Winik (Resolute Forest Products).
Jane Gillon (Ministry of Northern Development and Mines) is an ex-officio member of the Chamber board.
The Chamber of Commerce would like to thank outgoing board members Luke Skaarup, Christine Jourdain, Krista Gushulak, Dale Fortes, Tim Gauthier, and Anthony Mason “for their hard work and dedication to the organization during their time of service.”
