Rehabilitation work on the Noden Causeway will resume next month, with the work to involve improvement to support structures (pipe pile repairs) on all three structures, the Ministry of Transportation announced.
In addition, minor work will be completed on the west low-level structure while a new concrete deck and deck components will be put in on the high-level structure.
George Armstrong Co. Ltd. and Toronto Zenith Contracting Ltd. has been awarded contracts for the job, which is expected to be completed by late summer of 2014.
A notice of the bridge work from Toronto Zenith Contracting Ltd. said delays can be expected while the highway is reduced to a single lane.
As well, speed limits will be reduced during this construction period.
Traffic signals and flag personnel will be used to ensure safe movement during this time.
Improvements started on the Noden Causeway back in 2007.
Completed improvements include the installation of new concrete deck components at the east low-level and west low-level structures.
Some work also has been completed on the support structures.
“Projects such as reconstructing the Noden Causeway will help ensure our roads and bridges are safe and in good condition for years to come,” noted Transportation minister Bob Chiarelli.
