The official opening of the new digital mammography unit at La Verendrye Hospital is set for Thursday (Oct. 25) at 2 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria.
The program will including welcoming remarks, recognition of the “Together We Can” campaign volunteers, and a short memorial service in honour of Patti Johnson.
There also will be a ribbon-cutting, as well as tours of the room and new technology.
Cake and coffee will be served.
“This is a district-wide success and we hope to have a lot of people come together to share in the celebration,” said Christine Ruppenstein, who co-chaired the “Together We Can” campaign that saw more than $650,000 raised in six months to purchase a digital mammography unit.
“It’s state-of-the-art technology that benefits health care at many levels,” she added.
Although the fundraising goal has been met, there still will be ongoing activities and events by other organizations to honour their pledges made to the “Together We Can” campaign.
