Local curlers will have to wait a bit longer to hit the ice this season.
Originally slated to begin this Tuesday night (Oct. 9), the opening week of league play has been pushed back until Monday, Oct. 15 to allow the ice-maker to come in and get everything ready.
“The ice-maker does many of the other curling rinks in Northwestern Ontario, and he was already set to come in and work here when we had the circuit board issue here last week,” explained Ron Silver, who sits on the club’s curling committee.
“So he was all ready set to go and work in other clubs in the area this week, so we are hoping to have him come down next week and help us get ready,” he added.
The issue with the circuit board led to the cancellation of the inaugural “Stick and Stones” bonspiel last weekend, which also would have included a round of golf at Kitchen Creek.
