Local OPP Community Services Officer Cst. Anne McCoy received a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal at the OPP North West Region’s annual awards ceremony Tuesday in Thunder Bay.
“I am very grateful and humbled to be recognized with this acknowledgement,” Cst. McCoy told the Times yesterday.
“As the OPP Community Services Officer and media relations officer for the Rainy River District OPP, I have been afforded a fabulous opportunity to work with some outstanding people in our communities,” she added.
“The community initiatives I have taken part in could not be completed without the help of many hard-working people from all areas of the district,” Cst. McCoy stressed.
“In receiving this award, I would like to extend thanks to everyone for their support—in particular, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my friend and policing partner, Auxiliary Sgt. Major Murray Alexander, for his help and dedication.”
Other officers from the region who received Jubilee Medals were Sgt. Chuck Currie, Sgt. Eric Luoto, and Sgt. Marty Singleton.
These four officers were nominated by their colleagues or superiors in recognition of their achievements and sustained contributions within their respective communities, and/or because they have distinguished themselves within the OPP and the field of policing.
Cst. McCoy was the only officer from Rainy River District who received an award at Tuesday’s ceremony.
