Next Tuesday (Oct. 2), the “Together We Can” campaign committee and 93.1 The Border will team up to reach the $650,000 goal to bring a digital mammography unit to the residents of Rainy River District.
“We are 88 percent of the way to our goal and 93.1 The Border generously has donated their services for a radio-a-thon,” noted committee co-chair Jan Beazley.
“And people and businesses in the district are encouraged to call in their donations or pledges to bring us to our goal.
“We will be live on air from 7 a.m.-11 a.m. at the La Verendrye Hospital cafeteria, where you can also bring in your donation/pledge and join us for a free breakfast of muffins and fresh fruit,” Beazley added.
Beazley and fellow co-chair Christine Ruppenstein have been working hard with the other committee volunteers to raise the money needed for digital mammography and to raise awareness of the importance of breast screening.
The “Together We Can” campaign has been an ongoing initiative since April to raise the $650,000 needed to bring digital mammography here.
The digital machine will give off lower doses of radiation and much faster results.
The goal is to raise the $650,000 by the end of October.
“Let’s see how much money we can raise in one day ‘Together,’” Beazley enthused.
“Let’s reach our goal.”
