No new fires were reported in the West Fire Region over the weekend as the forest fire hazard remains “low.”
There are 22 active fires in the region, including five still being monitored in Quetico Provincial Park.
Provincial and regional resources remain at an adequate level to handle the expected fire load.
While the fire situation is quieter for now in Ontario, the MNR still is able to fill request orders for international and national responses co-ordinated through the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre located in Winnipeg.
Four fresh FireRangers were deployed to Minnesota on Friday, and currently requests from Alberta for FireRangers are being assessed.
