Unforgivable

Jill Flamand

Dear editor:
I feel that the letter to the editor that the Abraham Gerber family wrote should not have been printed in your paper.
I understand that everyone has a right to their own beliefs. And if, as in the Times’ response to me on your FB page, that the letter to the editor in question was in response to the article published a week earlier (“Churches slowly blessing same-sex unions”), with regard to Knox United Church, that would have been fine.
But the moment he quoted the Bible, and used a passage to twist the words to his beliefs, that is when you should not have printed it!
The Bible has a lot of passages—you can determine them as you like. But making an entire community believe that something beyond their control will send them to Hell if they do not change is ridiculous!
Do we not have enough bullying and teen suicide already?
You gave a bully a voice and that is unforgivable!
(Signed),
