Town council will be asked to approve an application for Northern Community Investment Readiness funding so an assessment can be done of the industrial park here.
Geoff Gillon, regional economic developer with the Rainy River Future Development Corp., said the town will apply for $10,000 to help pay for a study, with the town also paying a portion from its economic development budget and, hopefully, support from FedNor.
The town is looking to undertake the assessment and evaluation of the industrial park due to the potential opportunities arising from mining exploration activity in the region, as well as a strategic direction to increase the transportation sector within town limits due to its proximity to the Canada/U.S. border, Gillon wrote in an e-mail to council.
The assessment will quantify the state of the industrial park, recommend actions for the town to improve the park (e.g., what additional services are needed and what are appropriate lot sizes), and recommend the future direction of the park.
Council also will hear a presentation from Gillon re: the RRFDC’s quarterly activity
report for April 1-June 30.
The public portion of tonight’s committee of the whole meeting is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
The regular meeting of council will follow at 6:30.

•appointments to the new off-leash dog park steering committee;
•the June and July, 2012 Drinking Water Systems Monthly Summary Report.
•a recommendation re: correspondence from A. Anderson (bill for day care services);
