After adding Minnesota high school blueliner Hunter Bowlin to their roster Tuesday, the Fort Frances Lakers focused on their offensive attack yesterday with the signing of Thunder Bay forward Kevin Kurm.
The 17-year-old was the leading scorer for the Fort William Hurricanes Midget ‘AA’ squad last season, notching 22 goals and adding 23 assists in 33 games.
“Kevin lit up our prospect camp last month and he reminds the staff of Henry Gutierrez, who played many different roles for Lakers over his three years with our team,” noted Lakers’ head coach and general manager Wayne Strachan.
“Kevin skates well, he understands the game, and he has a nose for the net,” Strachan added.
“And we believe Laker fans will enjoy watching this young player grow into a strong force for our team.”
The Lakers already have brought in forwards Mason Meyer, Mathew Chasse, and Brennan Nesrallah to join veterans Merritt Rysavy, Colton Spicer, Davis Smith, Alex Bruess, and Jordan Christianson up front for the 2012/13 campaign.
