An outdoor shelter and its contents were lost in a fire yesterday at a residence on the 1300 block of Minnie Avenue.
The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service responded shortly after noon to a neighbour’s report that a roofed open storage area on nearby residential property was on fire.
By the time firefighters arrived, the blaze already had consumed the shelter.
Its contents, including
several snowmobiles and a riding lawn motor, received extensive damage from the intense heat.
Firefighters suppressed the flames quickly, keeping the fire from spreading to the adjacent garage and house, which was located about 50 feet from the burning structure.
Damage was limited to the area of origin, fire prevention captain Wayne Riches noted this morning.
Firefighters were on the scene for shortly over an hour.
Upon completing their investigation, Riches said it was determined the fire was accidental in nature.
The specific cause remains undetermined.
