With the middle of August around the corner, it’s time to start thinking once again, about the Rainy River Agricultural Fall Fair.
Advance midway tickets can be purchased at the following location around the district: Wilson’s Stationary and Rainy Lake Sports in Fort Frances; Devlynn’s and Greensides in Devlin; Tompkin’s Hardware, Village Variety and Cloverleaf Shop Easy in Emo; Barwick Village Restaurant (Barwick), Stratton Restaurant (Stratton), and Rainy River Drug Store (Rainy River).
Advance midway tickets are on sale until Thursday evening (Aug. 16) for only $28 which a savings of $5. Gate admission is $3 per person per day. You do not need advanced midway tickets to enter the fairgrounds. You can pay your $3 admission at the gate.
Anyone wishing to exhibit in the annual fair may pick up an Emo Fair Book at the District municipal offices or call secretary/treasurer Jan Judson at 807-482-2428 or you can download a copy at http://www.emofair.com/.
The entry forms can be found at the back of the fair book. Fair books also can be obtained from the following locations: Rainy River Drug Store, Barwick Village Restaurant, Emo Municipal Office, Jan Judson (22 King Street, Emo), Dev-Lynn’s, Greensides, La Vallee Municipal Office, Crazy Ladies, and Causeway Insurance.
The RRVAS requires workers for the Fair. If you are interested in helping at the gates, in the exhibition hall, or as parking attendants, please call Jan Judson at 482-2428.
Students this is an excellent way to get your volunteer hours for graduation.
Please consider becoming a worker at the fair. Without your participation, the fair cannot and will not be a success!
Finally, anyone wishing to purchase a membership or obtain books and tags may do so at the Fairgrounds Office. Entries for all exhibits will be received at the Exhibition Hall on Wednesday, Aug. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. only.

Off Lake Covenant Church will be hosting a come and go evening on Aug. 10 from 7-9 p.m. called “A Taste of Brazil” where all are welcome to come to enjoy Brazilian music playing in the background, sample some Brazilian food and meet their Brazilian pastor.
They especially would love to meet some new friends who speak Portuguese. No cost, and again all are welcome.
If you didn’t go away this summer this will give you a real taste of Brazil without the expensive cost of travelling!
