One of the top events for local golfers is set to return starting on Saturday morning, as the annual Kitchen Creek Classic will be getting underway at the Kitchen Creek Golf Club here.
“It is one of the biggest events we hold every year, and everyone is looking forward to it,” general manager Glen Kellar enthused.
“Our course is in great shape right now as well, so I’m expecting it to be another fantastic event,” he added.
As of press time, nearly 50 golfers are set to take to the course for the 36-hold event, which is headlined by defending event winner Alex McDonald.
“He’s actually working a golf course in Winnipeg this summer, but he will be coming back here to play in the event,” Kellar noticed.
“Along with him, we also have a lot of the regulars participating, such as Snake Krawchuk and Greg Tighe,” he added.
After practice rounds on Friday, the golfers will head to the fairways at various times on Saturday, with the first shots taking place around 8 a.m.
Sunday’s action will get underway with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., with the awards ceremonies set to take place at sometime between 2 and 3 p.m.
While the event itself is only a couple of days away, Kellar was quick to point out that it is not too late to sign up.
“Everyone tends to get involved in the tournament around here at the last minute it seems,” he joked.
The entry fee for the Classic is $120 dollars, which includes the practice round, skins, a meal, and prizes.
