Locum house fundraisers planned

With construction due to start within hours or days, the Rainy River Locum House is fast-becoming a reality.
But the work isn’t over yet. With donations and pledges totalling $155,964 to date, we are about halfway to our goal.
You can add your pledge or donation, including in memoriam donations, at the Rainy River municipal office.
A charitable donation tax receipt will be provided for each donation.
Meanwhile, fundraising efforts will continue during “Railroad Daze” week with a couple of events.
Local seniors are putting on a supper this Friday (July 20) from 5:30-7 p.m. at the seniors’ drop-in centre on Atwood Avenue.
The menu will feature hot pulled pork on a bun, along with salad and dessert.
A free-will offering is requested so be sure to “track on down.”
As well, “Pennies from Heaven” has been organized by our own nurse practitioner, Nicole Therrien.
Bring us those jars, bottles, and flower pots of pennies (or other coins) that have been cluttering up your bedroom dresser for the last decades.
Deposit jars bearing signs have been placed at businesses around town to accept those pennies.
The Rainy River Drug Store already has had its first full jar and has rolled them up for deposit.
After all, Canada is discontinuing use of those coppers, so let’s make use of them while the getting is good.
