The Borderland Racing Association will host the WISSOTA Super Stocks one more time tomorrow night at the Emo Speedway (weather permitting).
WISSOTA Super Stocks last attended the Emo Speedway from 2006-08, with no less than 15 cars on hand each time.
The competition comes from all over the region, with drivers from Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Bemidji, Hibbing, and Grand Rapids expected to attend.
“Bringing an additional class to the track for a special event adds to the program so much and creates a unique atmosphere of entertainment,” reasoned Borderland Racing Association president Anthony Leek.
“The tough battles the class displays every time they go onto the track pushes you to the edge of your seat,” he enthused.
S. Burnett & Associates Ltd., out of Orangeville, Ont., will be the title sponsor of the event.
Other sponsors include Tom Veert Contracting, Veert Landscaping, Glen Jackson, Tom Jackson, Gary Judson, Norlund Oil Ltd., Grainmaster, the Emo Inn, Green’s BBQ Bar, Strachan Trucking, and Barwick Service.
“Sponsoring at a historical racing facility that goes back to the 1950s, and an event that brings crowds from all over, is such a great honour,” said Stephen Burnett, owner of SBA, which is a civil and environmental consulting firm.
“SBA couldn’t be more excited to present our sponsorship for the WISSOTA Super Stocks,” he noted.
“SBA has a long-standing relationship with the Township of Emo, and this is a great opportunity for us to strengthen that relationship and be part of the community.”
“This has been a working project throughout the winter, and having the opportunity to announce SBA Ltd. as the title sponsor really adds to the excitement to what we have planned for Saturday,” Leek noted.
Action will get underway with hot laps at 7 p.m. and the first race at 7:30 p.m.
Grandstand gates open at 6 p.m., with admission being $10 for adults, $6 for students/seniors, and $4 for kids aged six-12 (those five and under are free).
Family packages also are available for $25. All three regular weekly classes—the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, WISSOTA Modifieds, and Street Stocks—also will be racing tomorrow night.
