A local man was killed in a fiery single-vehicle accident early Tuesday morning on Highway 11 about two km east of the Arctic Watershed.
The victim was identified as Jack Tiefenbacher, 88, of Fort Frances.
Police said the eastbound vehicle crossed the centre line and struck a rock cut around 7:20 a.m., at which time it became engulfed in flames.
The victim was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
Thunder Bay OPP, along with the Atikokan OPP and the Atikokan Fire Department, responded to the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
