For the first time this year, Mother Nature reared her ugly head over the Emo Speedway on Saturday night as inclement weather led to the night’s races being cancelled.
Action is set to resume this Saturday (weather permitting), with hot laps at 7 p.m. and the first race at 7:30.
A “powder puff” race for the ladies is slated to follow the feature races that night.
Prior to Saturday’s rain-out, four race nights had been completed without any issues, which has led to some interesting battles in the point standings in all three divisions.
In the WISSOTA Modifieds, defending series champ Gavin Paull once again is the man to beat.
His four-straight feature wins to start the campaign has given him a narrow nine-point lead over Denny Trimble.
Steve Nordin sits in third place, 25 markers back of Paull, with Gary Wilson and rookie Lindsay Bourre rounding out the top five.
Defending WISSOTA Midwest Modified champ Christopher Leek currently is leading the way in the always tight division, holding a 10-point cushion on Cody Ossachuk.
Anthony Visser, first-year driver Brody Strachan, and Chuck Lambert round out the top five.
The tightest battle in all of the classes at the 3/8th-mile oval, however, is in the Street Stocks, where Libby Wilson, who is sharing driving duties with her dad, Tylar, leads Richard Visser by just four points.
Carlee Bosma sits in third place just one point behind Visser while Chris Shine is only 11 points back of the leader in fourth.
Ron Westover is well back in fifth spot.
