On June 1, Rainy River District OPP officers, in conjunction with the Fort Frances Community Drug Action Team (CDAT), followed up on a complaint of an individual on the 600 block of King’s Highway selling marijuana to high school students.
As a result of an investigation, an 18-year-old male was charged.
He will appear in court here June 25.
On June 14 at 11:45 a.m., Rainy River District OPP officers, CDAT, the Fort Frances Crime Unit, and the OPP North West Region K-9 Unit executed a search warrant at a Poplar Avenue residence in Atikokan.
Two adults from Atikokan, a male and a female, were arrested and charged with trafficking a Schedule II drug and production of a Schedule II drug.
Police also seized 45 mature marijuana plants, 72 clone marijuana plants, 512 grams of marijuana shake, two grams of marijuana bud, indoor marijuana grow operation equipment (including lights, shields, soil, and fans), an irrigation unit, and numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia.
Both individuals will appear in court July 26 in Atikokan.
In related news, officers also learned of marijuana being sold from a second Poplar Avenue residence.
The result of this CDAT investigation saw police get 218 additional grams of marijuana out of the community.
