Fire hazard remains ‘low’

Staff

It was a very quiet weekend on the fire scene across the Northwest Region, with no new starts to report.
The forest fire hazard remains “low” for all of Northwestern Ontario, with rain in the forecast for the next couple of days.
There currently are 10 active fires in the region, including one on an island on the north arm of Rainy Lake.
Six are in Sioux Lookout District, two in Red Lake District, and one in Nipigon District.
The Ministry of Natural Resources reported all of these fires received substantial rainfall on the weekend and were showing minimal fire behaviour.
No problems are anticipated with any of these blazes at this time.
