With 22 teams and more than $8,000 in online pledges, this year’s “Relay for Life” is shaping up to be one of the biggest in years.
Fort Frances High School, where the all-night event is taking place, still has students writing exams tomorrow.
As such, teams are asked to not set up until after 3 p.m. so as not to disrupt the students.
The “Relay” officially kicks with opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m., but volunteers are asked to arrive at 3 p.m. to assist with site set-up.
The “Survivors’ Lap” will take place after opening ceremonies, followed by the luminary ceremony—“A Walk to Remember”—at 10 p.m.
The public is invited to come out and light their luminaries during the ceremony.
Luminaries are still available for purchase at the Clinic Dispensary, RBC, the Fort Frances Public Library, the Fort Frances Times, Energy Fitness, and Gillons’ until tomorrow morning, and at Pharmasave until 5:30 p.m.
They also will be available on-site from 5-10 p.m.
Luminaries cost $5 each.
Volunteers also are still needed for clean-up Saturday morning beginning at 6 a.m.

In other news, teams which did not attend “Bank Night” are asked to call Monica Sus at 274-7043 to get their money in before the “Relay” begins.
