Making his first start in the ARCA Series in more than a year, Fort Frances native Steve Arpin drove to a 12th-place finish in the Akona 200 at the Elko Speedway in Elko, Mn. on Saturday night.
Having started in 10th position, Arpin piloted the #66 Loenbro Pipeline Solutions Chevrolet Impala around the 3/8th-mile oval near the top 10 for most of the race, but ended up finishing a lap down.
Brennan Poole, Arpin’s Venturini Motorsports teammate, took the checkered flag and also moved into the series points lead with the victory.
Arpin’s next race in the ARCA Series is slated for Sunday, Aug. 19 at the Illinois State Fairground dirt track in Macon, Ill.
