Missing man found safe

the OPP

On Saturday around 9:05 p.m., the Rainy River District OPP was called by a local family to help locate an elderly male with Alzheimer’s.
A 79-year-old Fort Frances male left his residence to walk his dog around 4 p.m. When he failed to return home, his family called police to report him missing and initiate the search.
Rainy River District OPP members, with the assistance of the North West Region Emergency Response Team, the K-9 Unit, and marine units, all conducted patrols throughout the night.
At 10:18 a.m. on Sunday, ERT members located the male in the area of McIrvine Road, just north of the local dump road.
He was in good health but taken to La Verendrye Hospital as a precaution and later released.
