The Town of Fort Frances will hold its spring free tipping day at the local landfill—for residential yard and garden waste only—this coming Saturday (May 12).
From 10 a.m.-5 p.m. that day, the town will suspend the collection of tipping fees for half-ton vehicles and utility trailer hauling leaves, tree branches, grass clippings, and garden waste.
These are the only types of waste being exempted, and these items must be separate from regular waste.
While leaves may be brought in plastic bags, they must be dumped out when you bring them to the landfill.
As council first agreed last year, the second Saturday in May has been designated as the spring free tipping day for yard and garden waste from here on.
Each year, 200-300 hundred vehicles attend the free tipping day and drop off an average of 40 tonnes of organic matter.
