Home damaged by kitchen fire

Press Release

The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service responded to a house fire on the 200 block of Elizabeth Street West in the early hours yesterday.
Upon their arrival, open flames and heavy smoke were observed.
The fire quickly was brought under control by firefighters, with most fire damage being isolated to the kitchen area.
The rest of the main floor of the home received moderate damage from both smoke and heat.
An investigation determined the fire originated in the kitchen area.
Properly-working smoke alarms, and the quick actions of an occupant, are being credited with everyone’s safe evacuation from the home.
The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service reminds residents that working smoke alarms on every storey of your home not only is the law, but they also provide early detection ensuring occupants can escape safely.
