The OPP North West Regional Command, in partnership with the Fort Frances and Atikokan Police Services Boards, are pleased to announce that Insp. Steve Shouldice has been named as Rainy River District OPP detachment commander.
“On behalf of the board, congratulations,” John McTaggart, chair of the Fort Frances Police Services Board, said this morning.
“We’re delighted to have you as our detachment commander officially, and we look forward to a long and very good relationship with you and your staff,” McTaggart added.
“I think I speak for everyone [that] we’re excited to have you in head command.”
With more than 24 years of policing experience, Insp. Shouldice began his career in the community of Lancaster, in southeastern Ontario, and served there for 10 years.
Insp. Shouldice was promoted to sergeant and transferred to Fort Frances in 1998, then was promoted to staff sergeant in 2007.
He is in his 14th year of service in Rainy River District.
Insp. Shouldice replaces Insp. John Kendrick, who has accepted an inspector position with Thunder Bay OPP Regional Command.
He officially becomes the new detachment commander April 30.
