Canadian Diabetes Association invites the general public to its 2012 Diabetes Expo, “Stamping Out Diabetes,” which will take place on Wednesday, April 18 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. at the Adventure Inn ballroom in Fort Frances.
This free event includes a trade show and guest speaker Grant Maltman, curator of the Banting House National Historic Site of Canada.
Since this is the 90th anniversary of the discovery of insulin, organizers are hoping that a large number of people will attend this informative presentation.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with the keynote speaker at 6:30 p.m.

The Hair and Body Care Shoppe, which has moved to Front Street in Emo (beside the drugstore), will be holding their 12th-annual “Cuts for Cancer” on Saturday, April 21 during Emo’s “Spring Fever Days.”
The money raised from this event will go to support people from the district who must travel to Thunder Bay for treatment.
If you would like to help raise money for this worthwhile cause by having your head shaved please pick a pledge sheet at their new location and check out the brand new facility.

The Fort Frances Museum is currently featuring two exhibits. Through photographs and artifacts, they tell a unique, yet familiar story of the district.
The first, “Our Founding Families,” is a presentation by members of our local Genealogy group.
The second exhibit is called “The Ukrainian Connection” and was created by members of our local Ukrainian community.
Off-season hours will continue until mid-May. There are no admission fees for six more weeks.
The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
