A total of 14 local groups and service clubs, looking to get a share of the Moffat Family Fund, submitted applications to the town prior to Friday’s deadline.
Administrative assistant Lori Pattison said this number falls in line with recent years, which typically have garnered 15-20 responses.
Last year, for instance, saw a total of 19 respondents.
But even these numbers have been lower than when the town first started receiving a share of the Moffat Family Fund 10 years ago.
It used to be common to get upwards of 30 applications, Pattison noted.
As previously reported, the Town of Fort Frances will be receiving money from the Moffat Family Fund.
This year, it will be getting $37,500 to divvy up to local worthwhile causes aimed at helping youths and families.
The local Moffat Fund committee, which consists of Couns. Andrew Hallikas and John Albanese, Mayor Roy Avis, Linda Hamilton, Marie Howells, Capt. Angel Sandoval, and Fort Frances CAO Mark McCaig, will meet March 29 to review the applications and select recipients.
Their recommendations will be forwarded to town council for its approval April 9.
The selections then will be forwarded onto the Winnipeg Foundation by April 15.
The chosen recipients likely will receive their share of the $37,500 by early June.
