Burning permits within town suspended

Press Release

The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service would like to advise residents that the issuing of burning permits within the town for piled wood products and standing grass has been suspended until further notice.
This measure has been taken as a precaution due to the lack of recent precipitation, warmer-than-normal temperatures, and a drying trend that have resulted in an increased fire risk in and around the community.
All residents of Rainy River District are reminded to contact your local municipal office to determine if burning activities are allowed or if restrictions have been put in place.
Anyone with questions regarding burning activities within Fort Frances is encouraged to contact Fire Chief Frank Sheppard or Fire Prevention Captain Wayne Riches at 274-9841.
