Local groups and service clubs looking to get a share of the Moffat Family Fund this year had better hurry as the deadline to submit an application to the town is next Friday (March 16) at 2 p.m.
For the 10th-straight year, the Town of Fort Frances will be receiving money from the Moffat Family Fund.
This year, it will be getting $37,500 to divvy up to local worthwhile causes aimed at helping youths and families.
Administrative assistant Lori Pattison said only four applications had been submitted as of yesterday afternoon, and the town would like to see more come in.
Information packages are now available at the Civic Centre or by calling 274-5323.
Prospective applicants are advised to carefully review the criteria, as every year the town gets applications which do not make it to the review committee because some fail to follow guidelines.
For example:
•funding proposals must benefit children, families, and the “less advantaged”;
•organizations from outside Fort Frances, whose activities do not have a direct benefit to residents of Fort Frances, will not be considered;
•charitable numbers should be included with submissions;
•those who have received funding for their project from any other sources should mention that in their application; and
•applications should be limited to two-five pages.
Groups that have received funding in the past are more than welcome to apply again this year.
The local Moffat Fund committee, which consists of Couns. Andrew Hallikas and John Albanese, Mayor Roy Avis, Linda Hamilton, Marie Howells, and Capt. Angel Sandoval, then will choose recipients and forward those selections onto the Winnipeg Foundation for final approval.
Those recipients likely will receive their share of the $37,500 in late spring.
