The 21 members of Fort Frances High School’s “Travel Club” will be heading off on their inaugural trip tomorrow to spend their March Break in England and France.
“They are very excited,” enthused teacher Susan De Gagne, who started the club last fall.
“I think most don’t believe it’s actually time to go.”
Club members raised funds for the trip over the past few months, taking on the citrus fruit sales, holding a garage sale, and setting up a photo booth at the school’s “Musical Revue.”
Now the departure date has almost arrived and De Gagne feels the students are well-prepared for the excursion.
“They have been doing lots of researching and they keep coming up with different things they want to do,” she noted.
Some of the planned activities include visiting the Eiffel Tower, Versailles, and Westminster Abbey, as well as the 2012 Summer Olympic sites in London.
They also will stop by Windsor Castle, Vimy Ridge, take a cruise on the Seine River, and see the musical “Crazy for You” in London.
More unconventional activities will include cricket lessons at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London and an impressionist painting class in Paris.
“We’re expecting it to be a lot of fun while at the same time being educational,” De Gagne explained.
The “Travel Club” will return from their trip March 18.
