The Muskie boys’ hockey team is heading back to the NorWOSSA final after sweeping the Dryden Eagles in their best-of-three semi-final series over the weekend.
The black-and-gold wrapped up the series yesterday afternoon with a 3-1 victory in Dryden, thanks to a pair of goals by Braden Webb and a goal and an assist from Nick Kaun.
The Muskies staged a third-period comeback to earn a 3-2 victory in the series opener here Friday night, with Nick Jourdain netting the game-winning goal with 4:43 left in regulation time.
Ryan Windigo and Braedon Keast also scored in that one.
The Muskies now will face the Kenora Broncos in the best-of-three final, which is scheduled to get underway Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
Meanwhile, the Muskie girls’ hockey team will have their season on the line tomorrow night in Dryden, where they’ll go up against the Eagles in the third-and-deciding game of their semi-final series.
After earning a 6-4 win in Dryden on Friday night, the black-and-gold were unable to pull off the series upset here yesterday afternoon as the top-seeded Eagles stayed alive with a convincing 5-1 triumph.
Amber Jourdain scored late in the third period to spoiled the shutout bid of Eagles’ goalie CJ Ecker.
The winner of tomorrow’s game will go on to face the Kenora Broncos in the best-of-three final, which is set to get underway there Friday night.
