Activities planned for Family Day

Family Day is this Monday (Feb. 20) and it looks like there will be plenty for parents and kids to do across Rainy River District.
Here is Fort Frances, a free adult skate will run from 8-9:20 a.m. at Ice For Kids Arena, followed by a free family skate from 9:45-11:35 a.m.
Then there will be free shinny hockey for kids aged 13 and over from 11:45 a.m.-1:05 p.m., and from 1-2:50 p.m. for kids 12 and under.
There also will be a free family swim at the Memorial Sports Centre pool from 1-3 p.m.
Next door to the arena, the Fort Frances Library Technology Centre will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Family Day, with a family movie to be shown at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Alberton recreation committee is hosting its 11th-annual winter fun day on Family Day at the millennium rink from 1 p.m. until the last marshmallow is toasted.
Families are encouraged to come out and enjoy skating, sliding, drinking hot chocolate, eating hotdogs, playing games, and trying to win door prizes.
The Emo-La Vallee-Chapple Healthy Communities Coalition is inviting everyone to come out and celebrate Family Day from noon-4 p.m. at the Emo-La Vallee Community Centre.
A family skate will take place from noon-2 p.m., followed by shinny hockey from 2-4 p.m. (helmets and gloves are mandatory).
Movies, games, and snacks also will be available throughout the event.
The events are free and everyone is welcome to attend.
And the Rainy River Recreation Centre will host its fifth-annual Family Fun Day on Monday.
The event gets underway at 12:30 p.m. at the rec centre and curling club.
Families will do the first activity of the day until 1:15 p.m., then switch to their second activity from 1:15-2 p.m.
At 2 p.m. all families will gather and teams will be selected to participate in a fun family relay that involves doing things like skating, egg-and-spoon races, etc.
Prizes will be awarded.
Cost for the event is $2.
Then at 3:30 p.m., there will be free public skating in the Rainy River Arena.
