In addition to the benefit concert, art exhibit and market, buskers, penny table, and silent auctions of talent and merchandise at the “Heart of the Arts” event here tomorrow (Feb. 16), the “Relay for Life” and Sunset Country Métis also will be selling baked goods.
“Participating in events like this is a great way to have fun, build community spirit, and join the fight against cancer,” reasoned Anneda Supinski, an organizer for the “Relay of Life” bake sale.
Proceeds will help raise funds in advance of the Canadian Cancer Society’s annual “Relay for Life,” which is being held June 15 at Fort Frances High School.
The Sunset Country Métis, meanwhile, are raising funds to sustain the local Métis Hall.
“It’s really important to have the option of the Métis Hall for community events,” stressed Susan Carmody.
“We don’t have many halls left in Fort Frances.”
“The Métis are inclusive,” added Sherry George. “The Métis Hall benefits, and includes, everyone in the community.”
If you would like to contribute to the bake sales, you can drop off your goodies at the FFHS cafeteria tomorrow from 2-6 p.m.
Or come out to the “Heart of the Arts” that evening and make a purchase. You can sweeten your Valentine—and sweeten your community at the same time.
