The Fort Frances Lakers had trouble solving goalie Dean Shepherdson as they fell 2-1 to the host Dryden Ice Dogs last night for their second-straight loss.
Shepherdson was a thorn in the side of the Lakers’ shooters all night, making 27 saves.
He had his shutout bid ruined by Blake Boaz with just five seconds left in the third period.
Tyson Holder opened the scoring for the Ice Dogs with just four seconds to go in the first period.
Ryan Lobreau added an empty-netter with 30 seconds left in regulation time.
Although his team lost, Lakers’ goalie Tyler Ampe was no slouch between the pipes, turning aside 27 shots in earning the game’s third star.
The Lakers will look to get back on track tomorrow night when they host the expansion Iron Range Ironheads at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
