After becoming the first team all season to beat the Dryden Eagles in NorWOSSA play Friday night, the Muskie girls continued their winning ways with a 3-1 exhibition win over the visiting Baudette Bears last night.
The black-and-gold broke a 1-1 stalemate midway through the third period when Shilo Beck tallied.
Katie Sinclair then scored a few minutes later to give the Muskies a two-goal lead they would not relinquish.
“We started off a little bit slow out of the gates, but as the game went along we got stronger,” noted Muskie head coach Scott Clendenning.
“Our third goal came right after a great penalty kill, where the girls were doing exactly what we wanted them to do,” he recalled.
“And [Amy] Penner passed the puck out in front to Sinclair and she was rewarded with a nice goal.”
Hailey Clendenning netted the opening goal for the Muskies while Jaylene Anderson was the lone Bear to solve netminder Calie Clendenning.
The Muskie girls are back in action tonight when they’ll take on the Kenora Broncos at 7:15 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
“We have to be ready for them,” Scott Clendenning stressed.
“We have to be mentally ready, be physically ready, and play our best hockey of the year so far,” he warned.
