Kenora OPP continues to investigate a fatal motor-vehicle collision that occurred during the early-morning hours yesterday on Highway 17 in the Dogtooth Lake area.
A westbound tractor-trailer unit jackknifed on the highway around 1 a.m. and was struck by an eastbound tractor-trailer unit.
The driver of the eastbound unit was fatally injured in the collision.
The victim was identified as 45-year-old Amir Mohammadi of Winnipeg.
Another westbound tractor-trailer and an eastbound passenger vehicle were involved when they could not avoid the collision ahead of them.
Those vehicles were damaged although the drivers were not injured.
Highway 17 was closed for several hours as a result of the accident, with eastbound traffic directed down Highway 71 to Highway 11.
Westbound traffic was directed down Highway 502 to Highway 11.
Earlier on Tuesday evening, a tractor-trailer unit rolled over on the Trans-Canada in the Chadwick Lake area, spilling its load over the highway.
The driver was not injured in that accident.
