Rainy River District OPP and district emergency crews were kept busy responding to motor vehicle collisions earlier this week.
On Wednesday around 2 p.m., officers were flagged down by a passing motorist in Emo, who reported that a pickup truck had rolled over on the Off Lake Road about seven km north of Emo.
When Treaty #3 Police, OPP, and emergency crews arrived, the male driver was found at the scene.
He suffered serious injuries, resulting in an ambulance transporting him to La Verendrye hospital in Fort Frances.
Detachment officers and the Fort Frances OPP Crime Unit continue to investigate the crash.
Also Wednesday around 9:30 p.m., the OPP, ambulance, and Watten fire department responded to the report of a collision between two snowmachines in the Hopkins Bay area of Rainy Lake.
One male was taken to La Verendrye hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the OPP.
Then about an hour later, Rainy River District OPP and the Watten fire department responded to an ambulance that had been involved in a single-vehicle collision on Reef Point Road.
The crew that had responded to the snowmachine crash was en route to hospital with one patient when the driver lost control due to extremely slippery road conditions.
One crew member received minor injuries.
The OPP wish to make the public aware that roadways in Rainy River District, particularly the secondary roads, have very slippery sections.
Use caution when driving and be aware of the changing road conditions.
