The four Muskie court teams concluded their opening week of NorWOSSA play yesterday afternoon at Fort High, where the black-and-gold once again came away with a split.
The senior boys’ basketball squad improved to 2-0 on the young season with a convincing 56-19 thumping of the Kenora Broncos.
Will Anderson led the way with 21 points.
The juniors, meanwhile, found themselves in their second tight contest in as many days.
This time, however, they came out on the short end of the score—dropping a 27-26 decision to the visiting Broncos to fall to 1-1.
Darren Lundgren led the team with seven points.
In girls’ volleyball action, the junior Muskies earned their first win of the season with a three-set sweep of the Broncos (25-9, 25-13, and 25-22).
The seniors were not as fortunate, though, falling to 0-2 on the season in a four-set loss to Kenora (16-25, 25-10, 20-25, and 19-25).
Due to the Christmas break, the court teams won’t resume league action until Tuesday, Jan. 10 in Dryden.
Then another home encounter with the Broncos is slated for Thursday, Jan. 12.
