The Fort Frances Midget ‘AA’ Canadians concluded their 2011 tournament slate over weekend in Minnetonka, Mn., where they ended up with a third-place showing.
In the bronze-medal game Sunday against the Blaine Ice Dogs, Davis Ross notched the game-tying goal for the Canadians late in the third period.
He then scored the game-winner in double overtime to help the Canadians to a 3-2 victory.
Dylan Grinsell scored the other goal for the Canadians in regulation time.
Earlier in the tournament, Ross’ other brother, Nolan, scored a double-overtime winner of his own as the Canadians took a 4-3 win over the St. Louis Park Jr. Gold ‘A’ team on Friday.
Cam Gobeil, Brandon Sinclair, and Brandon McGinnis also scored in that one.
The team’s lone setback came Saturday in a 6-3 loss to the host Minnetonka Warriors, where Ryan Kaye scored a pair of goals to help his team get the win.
Grinsell, Robbie Payne, and Brody McPherson replied for the Canadians.
