Local snowmobile racer Curtis Boivin remains in critical condition in hospital following a horrendous accident Sunday in the Canadian Power Toboggan Championships’ season-opening weekend in Beausejour, Man.
Competing in the Pro Champ 440 main event, Boivin collided with another sled on the backstretch during the early stages of the race.
The 19-year-old reportedly was unconscious when medical staff reached him.
Boivin was taken via helicopter to a hospital in Winnipeg, where he will remain in a medically-induced coma for at least the next 24-48 hours.
