The Muskie boys’ hockey team ran into a hot goalie at the most inopportune time yesterday.
The black-and-gold were blanked 3-0 by Selkirk in the ‘B’-side final of the Victoria Inn tournament in Brandon, Man.
Despite peppering the net with shot after shot, Selkirk goalie Travis Schalk stymied every shot the Muskies threw at him to help his team to victory.
Fort High dropped to the ‘B’-side playoff bracket after finishing second in Pool ‘A’ with a 1-1 record, following a 6-2 win over Vincent Massey on Thursday and then a 5-4 setback to Stonewall on Friday.
In the playoff round, the Muskies blanked their NorWOSSA rivals from Kenora 3-0, then dumped St. John’s Ravenscourt 5-1 to reach the final against Selkirk.
The black-and-gold will resume NorWOSSA action Thursday when they travel to Kenora to face St. Thomas Aquinas.
Then they’ll host the Red Lake Rams on Saturday (Dec. 10) at 7:30 p.m. at the ’52 Canadians Arena.
