Violist to perform

Kang Suk Jean, a violist from Daegu, Korea, plays viola professionally and teaches private lessons.
He is the principal violist and assistant conductor of the Daegu Opera Festival Orchestra at the Daegu Opera House, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in viola performance from Keimyung University.
While in North America, Suk Jean has been visiting prospective universities in the U.S. and Canada for study to complete a Master’s degree in viola performance and conducting.
Suk Jean has played several venues in the area since he arrived in June, including St. Mary’s Church here in Fort Frances and Zion Lutheran over in International Falls.
He also participated in the recent Rainy Lake Orchestra workshop and concert in Ranier.
In appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality he’s been shown, Suk Jean will be performing a selection of classical and sacred music, accompanied by Joe Belanger, during the Sunday worship service at 9:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls.
