Town council will vote tonight on a bylaw to authorize the sale of municipal lands in the industrial park to K.J.’s Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Inc.
The property in question—currently a vacant lot fronting on the north side of Sixth Street West—was set out by council for surplus, sale, and development on Plan 48M-353 back in 2004.
The town is selling the property for $18,500, but is including incentives such as the installation of one sanitary sewer line up to eight inches in diameter, one two-inch waterline, and one 20-foot culvert.
The cost of the incentives is roughly $15,000 ($12,000 for the water and sewer lines, and $3,000 for the culvert), so the town would realize a revenue of about $3,500 on the sale.
The public portion of tonight’s council meeting is scheduled to start at 6:12 p.m.
The committee of the whole will meet in-camera first starting at 5:30.
Other items on the agenda include:
•a report regarding the sanitary sewer line at 1600 Colonization Rd. W.;
•the selection of a municipal special or hazardous waste provider to host a household hazardous waste drop-off day;
•RFP No. 11-OF-08 (an energy audit for 13 town-owned facilities and buildings);
•a request for proposals for municipal insurance;
•minutes of settlement requests for reconsideration for 521 Church St., 527 Church St., and 713 King’s Highway;
•an amended property assessment notice re: 319 Third St. W.;
•a report regarding solar panel project financing;
•Regional Economic Development Committee meeting travel and per diem claims for Coun. Ken Perry;
•the awarding of Tender 11-OF-10 (wildlife control fencing at Fort Frances Airport);
•a delegation by Mayor Roy Avis re: vandalism at the Lions Millennium Park;
•a financial request from the Sunset Country Travel Association re: annual per capita marketing contribution;
•a financial request from the Borderland Roller Derby League re: advertising a derby bout in honour of “Rachel’s Challenge;”
•a bylaw to approve an agreement with the Minister of Public Works and Government Services, acting through the Canadian General Standards Board, for the accreditation of the Town of Fort Frances as an operating authority of a municipal drinking water system; and
•a bylaw to amend Traffic Control By-Law 10/03 to revise certain traffic control measures in the vicinity of Robert Moore School.
