Fort Frances native Joe Basaraba is showing the brass of the Florida Panthers what he can bring to the table today in Coral Springs, Fla., where the NHL team is holding a development camp for its prospects.
Basaraba, who captured the NCAA national championship with the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs earlier this year, is one of 35 prospects and invitees the Panthers will be looking this week before the team holds its main training camp prior to the start of the 2011/12 season.
The camp will include three on-ice sessions, along with off-ice ones focusing on strength and conditioning.
Among the other top prospects who will be joining Basaraba, a third-round selection of the Panthers in the 2010 NHL entry draft, at camp include 2011 Memorial Cup MVP Jonathan Huberdeau and world junior silver-medalist Erik Gudbranson.
They both were selected third overall by the Panthers in the last two NHL entry drafts.
