Rainy River District School Board administration is pleased to announce two leadership appointments effective at the start of the school year in Aug. 2011.
Carla Magisano is appointed to the position of vice-principal of Fort Frances High School, in support of principal Al McManaman.
She replaces retiring Fort Frances High School vice-principal Ian Simpson.
With qualifications in English, Guidance, Alternative Education, and Special Education, Magisano brings to the position more than 20 years of secondary level teaching experience with the Rainy River District School Board.
Her background and experience demonstrate her commitment to lifelong learning and to improving student achievement.
Kevin Knutsen is appointed to the position of principal of school support services. He joined the Rainy River District School Board in 2008 as Special Education coordinator, and will remain in this role in addition to his new responsibilities.
As principal of school support services, Knutsen will assume the overall responsibility for the board’s current Program Support Team that supports continuous learning through relevant and aligned curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional development.
His demonstrated ability to assess the needs of children and support the district instructional program for students and schools in meeting the needs of all students make Knutsen an excellent fit as the department lead.
“The key to student achievement is the quality of instruction and leadership in our schools,” said Director of Education Heather Campbell.
“We are pleased to welcome both Ms. Magisano and Mr. Knutsen in their new leadership roles within our system,” she added.
Magisano and Knutsen look forward to working in their new positions with students, staff and the community.
