The Township of Emo’s annual Canada Day celebrations will be bigger and better this year!
Starting around 3 p.m., the Lions Park will be the scene of events and activities for the kids and adults alike.
Also starting at 3 p.m., classic cars, tractors, stock cars, and other historical vehicles will be in display throughout the afternoon at the Emo Fairgrounds for all ages to enjoy.
An autograph/interview session with the drivers of the WISSOTA Modifieds, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, and Street Stocks will be held, as well!
The beer gardens, provided by the Emo Legion at the Emo Arena, will begin at 4 p.m., with a supper running from 5-7 p.m.
The action really heats up starting at 7 p.m. when the Borderland Racing Association presents its Canada Day races with hot laps, followed by racing at 7:30 p.m.
Free cake will be served during intermission at the grandstand and at the Emo Arena.
After the races are over, fireworks will be set off at the Speedway presented by the Township of Emo.
Meanwhile, a dance featuring music by local band Centre-line will be held at the Emo Arena.
Be sure to come to Emo for the huge Canada Day celebrations at the Lions Park, the fairgrounds, and the Speedway.

The BIA in Fort Frances is calling on all artisans, musicians, crafters, greenhouses, furniture makers, veggie growers, and fundraising groups to come show and sell your wares on the Great Canadian Main Street Market Place.
Every Thursday through September, they will have a tent set up in front of the Fort Frances Museum, where you can show people what you have to offer.
The BIA will take care of the advertising for the month of June, so it is absolutely free. Why not take advantage of this great opportunity?
They are hoping to make this a big weekly event throughout the summer months, and eventually have the market extend throughout the downtown area.
By having this event on a Thursday, the BIA is hoping to catch people before they take off to the lake for the weekend while also encouraging tourists to stop as they are travelling through our beautiful area.
All you have to do is bring your table, chair, and goods to sell. Set up time would be 8:30 a.m., with hours from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. You are, of course, welcome to stay a bit longer if you wish.
The BIA wants to create a fun and friendly atmosphere, and looks forward to getting to know you and seeing all of the wonderful things you have to show and sell.
For special interest groups, this would be a great opportunity to sell your tickets or raise money for your cause.

In related news, Thursday, June 30 also will be a good opportunity as Scott Street will be blocked off for “Mall Days.” Music, a fish fry, stock cars, and a retro car show are a few of the things the BIA is hoping to have along with the Market Thursday exhibitors.
They also are hoping restaurants will put out some tables so people can enjoy the great outdoors.
The possibilities are endless. See you there!

The men’s breakfast group held another successful buffet breakfast at the Emo Legion this past Saturday (June 18).
The men on hand enjoyed a great breakfast, some fellowship, and an inspiring message delivered by guest speaker Gordon Armstrong from Rainy River.
The group will not be meeting over the summer, but will begin meeting again on the third Saturday in September.
Please watch for an announcement early in September.

The Emo Spray Park is now open for the season. If the weather ever turns warm, the park once again will be an extremely busy place.
The “Little House” also should be open soon, serving up cool treats and soft drinks.
