Town council will vote tonight on a bylaw amendment to re-zone 505 McIrvine Rd. to allow for a retail fuel depot there.
The property currently is zoned Highway Commercial (C3), but parent company Thunder Bay Trucking Centre Holdings has applied to have it changed in order to add a key/cardlock/bulk fuel depot as a permitted use.
This addition will allow truckers to fuel up at Peterbilt Fort Frances.
As part of this rezoning, By-law 8/98 will be amended to add a definition of a cardlock fuel retailing depot, as an “above ground-storage of fuel for sale by one or more pump islands to retail customers where access to the pump is self-service through the use of access car or code.”
“[It] does not include wholesale distribution but may include bulk delivery retail sales by the proprietor.”
As per the Planning Act, the public meeting on this amendment was held during the May 24 council meeting.
Other business on tonight’s agenda includes:
•a bylaw to deem lots 21 and 22 on Plan SM-48 (1108 Second St. E.);
•a bylaw to approve an agreement with the minister of transportation for financing under Dedicated Gas Tax Funds for Public Transportation Program;
•a bylaw to approve a service agreement with Municipal Tax Equity Consultants Inc. and MTE Paralegal Corp.;
•a bylaw to authorize the signing of an employment agreement with James Marengere as Sunny Cove Camp caretaker;
•a bylaw to authorize the signing of an agreement with the Fort Frances Professional Fire Fighters Association and Joseph Bobczynski;
•information on entering into a Geospatial Data License Agreement with Neegan Burnside Ltd.;
•an April, 2011 Drinking Water Systems Monthly Summary Report;
•a financial request from the International Tug-of-War;
•a written submission from E. Armit, chair of the Assisted Living Action Group;
•a request from North Air Services re: amendments to the current taxi bylaw;
•a request from the Township of Emo re: input of its proposed resolution for banning plastic bags; and
•a request from the Ontario Family Fishing Steering Committee to proclaim July 2-10, 2011 as “Ontario Family Fishing Week” in the Town of Fort Frances.
Tonight’s council meeting is scheduled to start at 6:50 p.m.
The committee of the whole will meet first in-camera at 5:30 p.m., but return to the public portion by 6:35 p.m.
