One new fire was reported in the Northwest Region by yesterday evening in Nipigon District.
There also were three new fires reported by day’s end Saturday—all caused by lightning.
Fort Frances Fire #6, located in the southwest portion of Quetico Provincial Park, was being monitored as it will benefit the ecological integrity and health of the area.
Nipigon Fire #17, located about 30 km south of Lake Nipigon, currently is classed as “under control” at a size of 1.5 hectares.
Meanwhile, Thunder Bay Fire #26, located about 15 km northwest of Shebandowan, is classed as “being held” at a size of 3.5 ha.
Also active in the region are two other fires in Thunder Bay District.
Fire #22, located 38 km east of Savant Lake in Wabakimi Provincial Park, currently is listed as “under control” at 1,317 ha.
Fire #23 also is in Wabakimi Provincial Park, located west of Change Lake and north of Windfall Lake.
This fire is being monitored as it will benefit the ecological integrity and health of the area.
