On Friday around 7:10 p.m., OPP officers and an ambulance responded to the report of a vehicle being struck by a CN freight train at Highway 617 in Stratton.
The driver, Donald Robert Bolen, 92, of Morley Township, died when his southbound vehicle collided with the westbound train.
An OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator and Reconstructionist have attended the scene to conduct an investigation.
CN Railway police also attended the scene and commenced a joint investigation.
Officers have determined that as the vehicle approached the level train crossing, the red lights were flashing and operating properly.
A post-mortem examination will take place at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora.
